Strep, COVID, flu testing at WFP retail stores

1. Patient purchased CLIA waived, pharmacist administered Strep or COVID/Flu test via POS.
Cashier: type in item, chose one of the following
      i) POC COVID/Flu $25.00
      ii) POC Strep $15.00

2. Pharmacist to administer test and interpret results. See attached figures on instructions.

3. Negative: counsel patient on symptom control

4. If results get postitive

A. Offer patient telehealth with IPC Care Plus, a virtual healthcare clinic.

C. Cost is $45 per visit for individual patients.

D. Subscriptions are $39 per month with a minimum 3-month commitment.
i) Subscription includes only one adult and unlimited dependents from ages 5 to 17.

E. They then click talk to a doctor now.  Provider has up to 4 hours to reach out to the patient.

F. Providers do not prescriber controls or compounds.

G. Patient will sign into app and confirm they want our pharmacy (options pop up via geomapping).

I. Patients can upload their test results. 

J. After the provider finished assessment, the script will be sent to our pharmacy to fill.

K. Patient will drop into pharmacist dashboard for 7 day phone call follow up with the patient on how they are feeling and counselling on the medications if applicable.

5. Alternatively, patients can take positive result to their pcp or call pcp to see if they will send in treatment. Some offices may not take pharmacy results and require retesting.

  • A tongue depressor may be used to hold the tongue down, providing a clear view of the throat area. 
  • The swab should be rubbed firmly against the tonsils, tonsillar pillars, and the back of the throat (posterior pharyngeal wall). 
  • The swab should not come into contact with the tongue, cheeks, teeth, or uvula. 
  • If there are any white patches or red, raw areas, the swab should focus on these areas.
